This is a spectacular walk and has stunning views of Walter and Cecil Peaks and the Remarkables Range. We started the walk at the Frankton end by the Camping Ground. There is a parking area but no toilets. The toilets are further round by the picnic and BBQ area. The track follows the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu. There are lots of strategically located seats along the walk to stop and admire the view. If you need a coffee fix you can easily divert into the Boatshed Cafe as you wander past the new Marina. We were followed by a friendly fantail and enjoyed watching the boats on the lake too. This walk is part of the Queenstown Trail and can be walked in either direction. We finished at Park Street, Queenstown. There is parking there but no toilets. You can keep following the trial in either direction but we needed a coffee!
This is a busy trail and you are liable to meet packs of cyclists, especially commuters going to and from work, so make sure you keep left.
